A.S.R. to Take Over Pension Obligations from Ecolab Fund, Completion by End of 2026
A.S.R. and the Stichting Pensioenfonds Ecolab have agreed on the transfer of pension obligations to the Dutch insurer. The transaction, pending approval from the Dutch Central Bank, is expected to be finalized in the fourth quarter of 2026.
A Fund with Over 600 Participants and 145 Million Euros in Assets
The Stichting Pensioenfonds Ecolab encompasses more than 600 participants and holds retirement assets of approximately 145 million euros. Through this transaction, all participants will receive a guaranteed lifelong pension, which will be increased initially at the time of transfer and then indexed annually.
This move comes amid a consolidation phase in the Dutch pension sector. A.S.R. completed the legal merger of its subsidiary ASR Levensverzekering with Aegon Levensverzekering at the beginning of July, marking the culmination of the integration of Aegon Nederland.
Approval from the Dutch Central Bank Required
The transfer of the pension obligations to A.S.R. remains contingent upon the non-objection declaration from the Dutch Central Bank (DNB). The completion of the transaction is anticipated in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Annual Indexation According to the Harmonized Price Index
As per the roadmap established with the Stichting Pensioenfonds Ecolab, retirees will benefit from full annual indexation based on the European harmonized index of consumer prices, excluding tobacco. The participants have already been informed of this decision by the Stichting Pensioenfonds Ecolab.
