NFL Biosciences seeks a partner for the phase 3 trial of NFL-101 at the BIO-Europe conference
NFL Biosciences announced on October 30, 2026 that its entire management team will take part in BIO-Europe 2026, held from November 9 to 11 in Cologne, Germany. The company intends to advance ongoing negotiations with pharmaceutical companies on its drug candidates for smoking cessation and nicotine dependence.
Discussions under confidentiality agreements, with NFL-101 at the forefront
The biopharmaceutical company, based in the Montpellier region, will focus on discussions underway with certain pharmaceutical companies that have signed confidentiality agreements. Targets include a global pharmaceutical group, two mid-sized specialized companies, and companies based in South Korea, India and China.
These exchanges aim to explore partnerships intended to financially support the continued clinical development and possible commercialization of the two candidates. NFL-101, the company's main asset, has completed a phase 2 clinical trial and is the central focus of the discussions.
The objective is to partner with a pharmaceutical laboratory to support the next development step, in particular the launch of a phase 3 trial in smoking cessation. This candidate is being developed under a personalized medicine approach based on a biomarker associated with treatment response.
NFL-102: a partner sought for part B of the TONIC trial
NFL-102, the company's second candidate, targets nicotine dependence. Its phase 2 TONIC study is to be conducted in several stages: part A is already funded and its results are expected to be announced in April 2027, while NFL Biosciences intends to seek a pharmaceutical partner to fund part B.
The company presents these two programs as “distinct but complementary” partnership opportunities. It intends to conclude an agreement with the same pharmaceutical company for both assets, in order to offer potential end users two distinct therapeutic options for quitting smoking.
NFL Biosciences specifies that these discussions remain subject to numerous conditions and that there is no guarantee they will be concluded. It indicates that it will inform the market of any significant developments.
