Air Liquide and ArianeGroup Sign Two Contracts for the Industrialization of Ariane 6
Air Liquide and ArianeGroup signed two new contracts on Thursday for the operational phase of Ariane 6. These agreements focus on the supply of critical cryogenic equipment and gases for the propulsion of the European rocket, supporting the increased production rate of the heavy launcher.
Two Contracts Covering Equipment and Gas Supply
The two agreements signed between Air Liquide and ArianeGroup respectively cover the supply of critical cryogenic equipment necessary for the manufacturing and propulsion of Ariane 6 rockets, as well as the supply of gases for ground operations and launcher propulsion. The first contract encompasses the delivery of equipment up to the 42nd flight of Ariane 6. The second renews a gas supply agreement for an initial period of three years. This gas agreement secures the delivery of propellants (liquid hydrogen and oxygen) as well as critical fluids (liquid and gaseous helium, liquid and gaseous nitrogen, and compressed air) intended for ground operations and launcher propulsion.
A Partnership of Over 50 Years in the Ariane Program
Air Liquide has supported the development of successive generations of launchers in the Ariane program for over 50 years. The French group has contributed to a total of 268 Ariane flights. Beyond the onboard equipment and technological services, Air Liquide has also designed the fluid distribution systems of the new ELA4 launch complex at the Guiana Space Center. ArianeGroup is currently increasing the production rate of Ariane 6 following the successful initial flights of the launcher. This industrialization phase requires strengthening the capabilities of its key industrial partners.
