Arkema's Stock Drops 3.5% Breaking Support at €57.25
The specialty chemicals company loses ground mid-session, while the Parisian market maintains its fixing level. The stock breaks a technical threshold monitored for several sessions, extending a decline started over the past month.
The Stock Breaks Its €57.25 Support and Slips Below Its Short Moving Averages
Arkema's stock drops 3.29% to €57.30 at midday, while the SBF 120 index slightly gains 0.05%. During the session, the stock breached its support at €57.25, a level that had previously acted as a floor, and remains close to this zone. This movement ranks the stock among the steepest declines in the SBF 120, although it is still far from the more pronounced drops seen today in Sartorius Stedim or Carrefour. The decline is part of a worsening technical dynamic: the price is now below its MM20 (€59.60) and MM50 (€60.99), with respective deviations of -3.86% and -6.05%.
The MM200 at €55.87, however, remains slightly lower, providing a margin of 2.56% relative to the current price. The RSI at 48 remains neutral, with no oversold signal, indicating no exhaustion of sellers. Over the month, the stock has lost 8.54%.
A Session Weighed Down by Brent's Fall and Renewed Caution from the Fed
The sectoral context is unfavorable for the basic materials segment. Brent oil falls 4.27% during the session to $79.62, losing nearly 17% since the U.S.-Iran agreement sealed at the G7 in Évian and the prospect of reopening the Strait of Hormuz. For a specialty chemicals company, the easing of energy costs will ultimately reduce the bill for raw materials, but the short-term rotation of capital flows penalizes cyclical stocks indirectly exposed to the oil cycle. Caution is also revived by the Fed's status quo on its rates, now coupled with a bias towards a possible increase in response to U.S. inflation rising to 4.2% year-on-year.
As a reminder, the group has appointed Laurent Tellier as Chief Operating Officer effective from July 1, 2026, replacing Marc Schuller. The immediate technical reference for the next sessions will be the now-lost €57.25 threshold, with the MM200 at €55.87 as the next level.
