Bureau Veritas Partners with Circulor for Battery Digital Passports
Bureau Veritas announced on Thursday a strategic collaboration with Circulor to assist organizations in implementing the traceability and digital passport requirements mandated by European regulations.
An Alliance to Meet New Battery Traceability Standards
Bureau Veritas combines its expertise in testing, inspection, certification, and verification with Circulor's digital traceability platform to support companies in enhancing the transparency of their supply chains. This collaboration aims to prepare organizations for the requirements of the EU Battery Regulation (EU 2023/1542) and the EU Ecodesign Regulation (EU 2024/1781). The Battery Regulation notably mandates CE marking, conformity assessment procedures, due diligence obligations, and a digital passport intended to enhance traceability throughout the battery life cycle. The Ecodesign Regulation requires product designers to meet minimum requirements for energy efficiency, use of sustainable materials, durability, repairability, and end-of-life disassembly.
Integrated Compliance Services
The two partners will deliver integrated solutions covering the setup and preparation of battery digital passports, supply chain traceability and verification, carbon footprint assessments and responsible sourcing evaluations, as well as validation of data completeness and regulatory compliance. Supply Chain Traceability, a Strategic Issue
According to the Bureau Veritas Sustainability Trends Report, more than one in five companies cites supply chain performance and traceability as major issues. This collaboration is part of Bureau Veritas' Sustainable Solutions portfolio and targets stakeholders in the battery ecosystem, from raw material processors to original equipment manufacturers and energy storage providers. In the future, the two partners will also explore opportunities related to digital product passports, sustainability data management, and scalable verification approaches to support international regulatory frameworks.
