A memorandum of understanding between Valdunes Industries and Saarstahl Ascoval
Europlasma, a specialist in dangerous waste treatment, material recovery and decarbonization, indicated that its subsidiary Valdunes Industries signed on September 23, 2026 a memorandum of understanding with Saarstahl Ascoval, a steelmaker specializing in the production of low-carbon steel.
The agreement aims to develop a new generation of railway wheels with low carbon footprint. The two industrial companies are based in the Hauts-de-France region.
A steel recycling loop for end-of-life wheels
According to the press release, wheels that have reached the end of their life will be recovered from railway operators, then their steel will be remelted by Saarstahl Ascoval to produce new steel intended for the manufacture of new wheels by Valdunes Industries, with the same characteristics and performance.
Based on locally produced low-carbon steel, this process aims to reduce the carbon footprint associated with the manufacturing and transportation of wheels, while contributing to the development of a French and local supply chain.
First deliveries planned for end of 2026
The first deliveries of this new generation of wheels are scheduled for the end of 2026.
The group specifies that Valdunes Industries has recorded orders internationally since the beginning of the fiscal year. Europlasma is listed on Euronext Growth (FR0014011QJ8 - ALEUP).
