Royal Philips has introduced the Snuggle™ pediatric coil from InkSpace Imaging for its 3.0T MRI systems. Specifically designed for pediatric patients, this coil features a soft, lightweight blanket-like structure that gently wraps around the patient. Its high-density architecture enables sharp, high-resolution imaging while reducing examination times. According to Philips, these features can lessen the need for additional imaging or follow-up procedures, while also making it easier for technicians due to quicker setup and reduced scanning times.
FDA Approval and Availability
The Snuggle pediatric coil for Philips' 3.0T MRI systems has recently received authorization from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) through the 510(k) process. It is now available in the United States, with plans for deployment in other regions. Philips and InkSpace Imaging are exploring opportunities to expand this comfort and efficiency-focused coil technology.
