SCOR Revamps Executive Committee as It Approaches New Strategic Plan
The French reinsurer announces several changes at the top of its leadership team. Philipp Rüede, currently head of SCOR Life & Health, will take over as the group's Chief Financial Officer starting March 7, 2026.
Leadership Transition
According to the press release issued on Tuesday, Philipp Rüede will leave his current role as CEO of SCOR Life & Health to become the group's Chief Financial Officer. He will succeed François de Varenne, who also held the position of Deputy CEO. François de Varenne will step down from these roles on March 7, 2026, and will become a senior advisor to the executive management. He will remain in charge of closing the accounts for the fourth quarter of 2025 and the annual accounts for 2025, which are scheduled to be published to the market on March 4, 2026. Philipp Rüede joined SCOR on June 1, 2025, and has over twenty years of experience in banking and reinsurance, having held positions at Credit Suisse and Swiss Re, where he led the global P&C structured solutions team from 2015 to 2019.
New General Manager for SCOR L&H
Pilar Santamaria Cases, who currently holds the position of head of Continental Europe and Latin America at SCOR L&H, becomes the General Manager of this division. She will also join the executive committee starting March 7, 2026. According to the press release, Pilar Santamaria Cases joined the group in 2006 and has over twenty-five years of experience in the life reinsurance sector. She was appointed head of the Iberian region in 2012, before gradually expanding her scope of responsibilities internationally. The group states that this appointment reflects the depth of internal talent pool and demonstrates its commitment to supporting long-term career development of its employees.
New Global Director of Underwriting
Laure Forgeron joined SCOR on January 5, 2026, as the Global Director of Underwriting for the P&C (Property and Casualty) business. She reports to Jean-Paul Conoscente, CEO of SCOR P&C, and joins the group's executive committee. According to the press release, Laure Forgeron has more than fifteen years of international experience in non-life reinsurance. She previously held the position of Chief Underwriting Officer Casualty at Swiss Re in New York since 2023. Her role involves defining and managing the underwriting strategy and the risk portfolio for P&C in reinsurance, insurance, alternative solutions, and facultative. These changes occur as SCOR enters the final year of its Forward 2026 plan and prepares its next strategic plan, which will be presented in December 2026. The group recorded 20.1 billion euros in premiums in 2024.
