Shell Announces Changes to Its Board of Directors
Shell plc has announced changes to its board of directors and committees, with the changes taking effect from January 2026, according to a company statement.
Board Member Departures
Shell plc has announced that Catherine Hughes and Neil Carson, both non-executive directors, will not stand for re-election at the 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM). Catherine Hughes, who has served on the board for nine years and chairs the sustainability committee, and Neil Carson, who has been a member for seven years, will leave their positions after this date.
New Appointments
The company also announced the appointment of Holly Koeppel and Clare Scherrer as non-executive directors effective from January 1, 2026. Holly Koeppel will join the audit and risk committee as well as the sustainability committee, while Clare Scherrer will serve on the audit and risk committee and the remuneration committee.
Leadership Changes
Sir Andrew Mackenzie, the chairman of Shell, will be appointed as the chairman of the sustainability committee at the end of the AGM 2026, taking over from Catherine Hughes. These changes in composition are subject to the re-election of members by the shareholders at the AGM 2026.
