Sopra Steria Stock Drops 2.5% and Reaches its MM20
Sopra Steria stock pauses its rebound that began in late April, amid a slightly retreating CAC 40. The movement occurs as the stock approaches a closely watched technical threshold, after several weeks of recovery.
The stock reaches its MM20 after a rebound of nearly 22% for the quarter
Sopra Steria stock drops 2.46% to €146.90, down 1.94% for the week but still up 21.61% over three months. Today's movement brings the price back to the MM20 (€147.32), which was crossed upwards at the end of May and has been defended since. The MM50 (€136.51) and the MM200 (€138.88), respectively 7.6% and 5.8% below the current price, maintain a comfortable gap and confirm the medium-term trend remains intact. The RSI at 59 remains in the neutral zone, with no particular alerts, and the MACD signals a slowdown with a histogram moving into negative territory (-0.42).
The resistance at €155.70, identified as the next target during the June 16 session, was not tested in session. The decline is part of an almost stable Parisian market (CAC 40 -0.07%, SBF 120 -0.16%), with the VIX rising to 17.42 (+6.15%) following the Fed's announcement hinting at a possible rate hike by the end of 2026. Digital services stocks are particularly affected during the session, with Capgemini dropping more than 6% and among the biggest losers in the SBF 120.
Active external growth strategy and net short positions at 3.38% of capital
The fundamental context remains supportive following several recent announcements. At the end of May, Sopra Steria entered exclusive negotiations to acquire the Manufacturing Engineering branch of Daher Industrial Services, and to purchase Digital Product Simulation to enhance its PLM offerings. Additionally, on June 10, the group announced the consolidation of its 2,000 Toulouse employees onto a single campus in Blagnac by 2028, dedicated to the aerospace and space sector. According to the consensus of surveyed analysts, the stock is trading at approximately 8.3 times the earnings of the current fiscal year and 7.6 times those of the next, with an expected EPS growth of 7.3%.
According to reviewed statements, four funds cumulatively hold 3.38% of the capital sold short, up 0.11 point over thirty days. This level, above the 3% threshold generally considered significant, reflects the persistence of an institutional bearish bet on the stock, without marked acceleration over the last month. The resistance at €155.70 remains the next technical milestone observable above the current price.
