SpineGuard Obtains U.S. Patent for Spinal Ultrasound Technology
The designer of DSG surgical guidance technology has had validated by the U.S. Patent Office an ultrasound technology intended to prepare the placement of spinal implants. The company indicates it now wishes to establish a partnership for its commercial exploitation.
Ultrasound Technology Validated by the USPTO
SpineGuard announced on August 24, 2026, that it had obtained validation of a new U.S. patent by the USPTO (U.S. Patent and Trademark Office). This patent covers a robotically-assisted ultrasound technology used to determine the entry point and pedicle trajectory from the bone surface of the spinal column.
According to the company, this technology implements ultrasound to determine, without using X-rays, the entry point and drilling direction from the posterior surface of the bone. It is presented as a complement to SpineGuard's DSG technology for detecting bone breach in real time, employed before the drill penetrates the bone.
Search for an Industrial Partner for Commercial Exploitation
Stéphane Bette, Delegated Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of SpineGuard, linked this patent grant to a presentation at the CFA Congress in April and the defense of a science thesis in December. He indicated that the next step consists of seeking an industrial partner to commercially exploit the patent.
The company specifies that its intellectual property portfolio currently comprises 11 patent families as well as 3 registered trademarks, in regions including Europe, the United States, China and Japan. It recalls that more than 110,000 surgeries have been secured to date thanks to its DSG technology.
