STMicroelectronics stock among the strongest gainers on the CAC 40, +15% over one month
Semiconductor manufacturer STMicroelectronics is displaying one of the best performances on the Paris index this Friday, in a CAC 40 up more than 1%. The rebound extends an upward momentum begun two weeks ago, bringing the monthly gain to nearly 15%, while the stock had still lost more than 22% over the quarter.
A rebound of nearly 3% that consolidates the position above the three moving averages
STMicroelectronics is trading at €48.64 during the session, up 2.94% compared to the previous day's close at €47.25. The stock ranks among the strongest gainers on the CAC 40 and is advancing 8.38% over seven days, in a well-oriented semiconductor sector: ASML Holding is gaining 2.38% and ASM International is advancing 4.69%, while on the American side Micron Technology is progressing 3.03% and Lam Research 3.53% at the close of Thursday, October 1st. On the indicators front, the price is above its three moving averages: it exceeds the MA20 (€44.79) by 8.60% and the MA50 (€45.07) by 7.92%, while the gap with the MA200 (€41.61) reaches 16.89%.
The RSI at 59 remains in neutral territory, without overbought signal, which leaves margin before reaching tight configurations. The MACD is positive (histogram at 0.46), in line with the week's upward momentum.
A stock valued at 40 times the earnings of the current fiscal year in a Paris market under budgetary pressure
Despite the session's rebound, valuation remains elevated: according to the consensus of analysts surveyed, STMicroelectronics is trading at approximately 40.6 times expected earnings for the current fiscal year, and 21.2 times those of the following fiscal year. This multiple reflects recovery expectations following a difficult quarter (-22% over three months), but also the fragility of short-term volume visibility. The Paris market context remains under budgetary pressure: the draft finance law for 2027, presented on October 1st, targets a public deficit at 5% of GDP in a context of uncertain adoption by the National Assembly, while the 10-year OAT stands at 4.90% on October 1st, 2026, its highest level since 2002.
This context weighs on domestic stocks sensitive to rates, while STMicroelectronics is moving counter to this trend this morning. Support at €41.74 constitutes the technical reference level in case of a reversal.
