Wolters Kluwer Appoints Maria Montenegro as Head of Corporate Performance & ESG Division
Dutch group Wolters Kluwer has announced the appointment of Maria Montenegro as the General Manager of its Corporate Performance & ESG division, replacing Karen Abramson who is leaving the company.
Leadership and Strategic Vision
Maria Montenegro, who has been serving as the Director of Strategy and Innovation at Wolters Kluwer since 2022, will now lead the Corporate Performance & ESG division, the company stated. During her tenure, she has contributed to several strategic initiatives of the group, including accelerating product innovation, developing partnerships in artificial intelligence, and overseeing acquisition operations, as well as strengthening commercial activities. Prior to joining Wolters Kluwer, Maria Montenegro spent nearly ten years at McKinsey & Company, advising global companies on portfolio strategy, mergers and acquisitions, and technological transformation. Her professional career spans several continents, including the Americas, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Africa, with experiences in investment banking and startups.

Nancy McKinstry, CEO and Chair of the Board of Directors at Wolters Kluwer, highlighted in the statement that Maria Montenegro possesses a strong strategic vision and a proven ability to drive growth and transformation. The executive also noted that the group expects the division to show organic growth in 2025 in line with previously communicated forecasts. Nancy McKinstry also thanked Karen Abramson for her years of service within the company. Stacey Caywood, a board member and the future CEO of the group starting February 28, 2026, added that the market addressed by the Corporate Performance & ESG division is a key element of the group's strategy and that it is well-positioned to seize global growth opportunities in cloud-based enterprise software and artificial intelligence.
