Abivax: Seven Abstracts on Obefazimod Selected for UEG Week 2026 in Barcelona
The Paris-based biotechnology company, specializing in chronic inflammatory diseases, announced the selection of seven scientific abstracts dedicated to its leading drug candidate for an international gastroenterology congress scheduled in Barcelona in October.
These presentations cover the essential aspects of its clinical and preclinical development program in ulcerative colitis.
Seven Abstracts Selected for Barcelona Congress
Abivax indicated that seven abstracts dedicated to obefazimod, its leading drug candidate for the treatment of moderate to severe active ulcerative colitis, will be presented at the United European Gastroenterology (UEG) Week 2026, which will take place from October 17 to 20, 2026 in Barcelona, Spain.
The program includes four oral presentations and three posters. It is based on data from the phase 3 ABTECT maintenance and induction trials in ulcerative colitis, on long-term follow-up data from the phase 2 program, as well as on preclinical research work focusing on the antifibrotic and antitumoral activity of the drug candidate.
Management Highlights Scope of Program
Marc de Garidel, Chief Executive Officer of Abivax, stated that the data presented at UEG Week will deepen understanding of obefazimod and its potential in chronic inflammatory bowel diseases.
Chris Rabbat, Medical Director, added that the seven accepted abstracts demonstrate the breadth and maturity of the development program, which covers phase 3 maintenance results, long-term phase 2 efficacy and safety data, as well as preclinical results on inflammation and fibrosis.
The company specified that the presentations will be accessible on the "Publications" page of its website following the congress.
