Air Liquide Invests €70 Million in Kazakhstan for Two Nitrogen Units for Silleno
Air Liquide strengthens its industrial foothold in Kazakhstan by investing 70 million euros in two nitrogen production units to supply a new polyethylene plant of the Silleno group. This agreement continues the French group's development in the region since 2016.
Air Liquide Karabatan Tech Gases LLP (ALKTG), a subsidiary of the group, has signed a long-term agreement with Silleno LLP to build and operate two state-of-the-art nitrogen production units. These facilities will be among the largest industrial gas units in Central Asia and will provide nitrogen and dry compressed air to Silleno's upcoming polyethylene plant.
The infrastructure will be located in the special economic zone of the National Industrial Petrochemical Technopark (NIPT), near the existing ALKTG air separation unit (ASU) that currently supplies Kazakhstan Petrochemical Industries (KPI). This location allows for the creation of synergies within the Karabatan basin, an area in Atyrau.

The commissioning of the two units and the start of supply are scheduled for the end of 2028, in line with the timeline of the Silleno plant. This investment of 70 million euros marks a new phase in strengthening ALKTG's presence in Kazakhstan, following its first investment in the Karabatan basin in 2019.
ALKTG remains controlled by Air Liquide Munay Tech Gases (ALMTG), a subsidiary of the group created in 2016 and owned 75% by Air Liquide and 25% by KazMunayGaz NC, the national oil and gas company of Kazakhstan. The group already operates hydrogen and nitrogen production units for KMG's refineries in Pavlodar (since 2018) and Atyrau (since 2021).

Le chiffre d'affaires du premier semestre 2026 atteint près de 14 milliards d'euros, en hausse de 4,3 % hors effets de change et d'énergie (incluant DIG Airgas) et de 2,6 % en base comparable. Toutes les géographies contribuent, en particulier les Amériques et l'Asie, portées par l'Électronique, l'Industriel Marchand et la Santé. Près de 300 millions d'euros d'efficacités ont été générés, permettant une hausse de la marge opérationnelle de 110 points de base hors effet énergie et PPA. La capacité d'autofinancement progresse de 8 % hors effet de change et le résultat net récurrent croît de 9,9 % hors effets de change. Les décisions d'investissement atteignent un record de près de 3 milliards d'euros et le carnet de commandes un nouveau record de 6 milliards d'euros.
