Alstom share approaches its resistance at €16.45 and gains 2% during the session
The rail manufacturer is progressing in a declining Paris market, placing it among the best-performing values in its index. The rebound comes after a succession of orders announced in recent weeks and a prolonged decline over the past year.
A session running counter to the SBF 120 that places the stock above its short-term moving averages
The Alstom share gains 2.04% to €16.24 at midday, while the SBF 120 falls 0.72% and the CAC 40 drops 0.8%. The stock ranks among the strongest gains in the index, behind Sodexo, L'Oréal, Viridien and Nanobiotix leading the session. The price is above the 20-day moving average (€15.71, a difference of 3.37%) as well as the 50-day moving average (€15.78), and it is approaching the €16.45 resistance level. It remains below the 200-day moving average (€19.43), at a distance of 16.42%.
Over the month, the gain stands at 6.35%, but the loss reaches 24.92% over a year. The last two-year low of €14.51 dates from September 24. Since then, the €800 million order for metros in Hanoi, announced on October 19, has been added to contracts signed in Saudi Arabia and Sweden at the end of September.
A price supported by orders, while short positions increase to 4.98% of capital
According to available disclosures, six funds have accumulated 4.98% of capital in net short positions, compared to 4.57% thirty days ago, representing an increase of 0.41 percentage points. This level remains significant: institutional investors remain positioned downside on the stock, or seek to hedge an exposure. The increase over one month is nonetheless moderate, and this point deserves to be monitored without being overinterpreted.
On the fundamentals side, when publishing the results for the first quarter of 2026-27, on July 22, 2026, the group had confirmed its target of organic revenue growth of approximately 5% and adjusted operating margin of approximately 6.5% for the fiscal year.
