Among the strongest gains in the SBF 120, Viridien shares climb 3.5%
The geosciences specialist is rebounding sharply in early afternoon, in a barely oriented Paris market. The share remains below its main moving averages, while short sales targeting it have continued to gain ground.
A rebound of 3.7% that leaves the share below its moving averages
The Viridien share is up 3.68% at €88.85, after closing at €85.70 the previous day. This increase places it among the strongest in the SBF 120, which is up 0.38% while the CAC 40 gains 0.28%. The movement is not enough to erase the 3.42% decline recorded over one month, even though the share maintains a gain of 2.3% over the week. The price remains below the 20-day moving average at €89.81, representing a gap of 1.07%, and the 50-day moving average at €90.38.
The 200-day moving average at €107.63 is more than 17% above. The RSI at 43 is neutral: the rebound occurs after a phase of decline, with no sign of overheating. Support at €84.55 held, resistance is found at €97.80.
Nine short funds and oil at 106 dollars
According to declarations reviewed, nine funds cumulatively hold 10.26% of capital sold short, compared to 6.96% thirty days ago, an increase of 3.30 percentage points in one month. This level is high and the progression is rapid. It indicates institutional investors positioned against the value, or seeking to hedge an exposure, without allowing us to infer their motivations. A share price rebound can also be accompanied by a buyback of these positions.
On the commodities side, Brent is trading at $106.37 per barrel, up 0.42% on the day and 7.9% since October 6. Viridien, whose activity depends on demand from oil companies, is a share directly exposed to this cycle. The latest report from the International Energy Agency, dated October 15, projects global demand of 102.4 million barrels per day in 2026. The SBF 120 offers a supportive framework for the session: the share ranks ninth out of 120.
