APRR: traffic down 2.9% over nine months, revenue stable at +0.2%
The APRR highway network, a concession of the Eiffage group, reported on October 20, 2026 revenue excluding Construction of 2,487.0 million euros as of September 30, up 0.2% year-on-year. This stability is based on the growth of commercial facilities, telecom and other activities, while toll revenue and traffic are in decline.
On the APRR and AREA networks, kilometers traveled fell 2.9% over nine months, and 3.5% in the third quarter alone. The decline is driven by light vehicles, while heavy goods vehicle traffic is growing.
Toll revenues are declining in a smaller proportion than traffic: 0.8% over nine months. At the same time, non-toll activities increased by 20.8%, which allowed consolidated revenue to remain at 2025 levels.
Tolls down 0.8%, ancillary activities up 20.8%
As of September 30, 2026, the toll revenue of APRR and AREA was 2,311.2 million euros, compared to 2,329.5 million euros a year earlier, a decrease of 0.8%. Compared to the same period in 2024, it is up 2.4%.
Revenue from commercial facilities, telecom and other activities increased from 107.9 million euros to 130.4 million euros (+20.8%). The APRR and AREA subtotal thus comes to 2,441.6 million euros, up 0.2%. Aliaé, the concessionaire of the A79, contributed 45.4 million euros (+4.4%), of which 11.8 million euros came from commercial facilities.
On the traffic side, light vehicles traveled 16,442 million kilometers, down 3.7%, while heavy goods vehicles increased 1.9%, to 3,054 million kilometers. Total traffic on the APRR and AREA networks stands at 19,496 million kilometers (-2.9%), and remains 1.3% below its 2024 level.
Third quarter: acceleration of light vehicle decline
Looking at the third quarter alone reveals a sharper decline than on a cumulative basis. Total traffic on the APRR and AREA networks fell 3.5%, to 7,450 million kilometers, and is 2.8% below its third quarter 2024 level. Light vehicles declined 4.1%, heavy goods vehicles increased 0.8%.
Toll revenue for the quarter decreased 1.7%, to 850.0 million euros, while remaining 0.8% higher than the third quarter 2024. Commercial facilities, telecom and other increased 25.6%, to 55.1 million euros. In total, revenue excluding Construction for the quarter stands at 922.9 million euros, down 0.3%.
The A79 is following a different trajectory: its total traffic increased 1.4% over nine months and 0.7% for the quarter, driven by heavy goods vehicles (+5.5% over nine months). Aliaé's revenue increased 3.9% in the third quarter, to 17.7 million euros.
Fitch confirms APRR 'A' rating with stable outlook
On September 14, 2026, Fitch confirmed APRR's credit rating at 'A', with a stable outlook. The statement also mentions Construction revenue, accounted for according to IFRIC 12 interpretation, of 145.7 million euros over nine months, compared to 103.8 million euros a year earlier. This aggregate corresponds to infrastructure works carried out on behalf of the concession grantor and entrusted to third parties; the company describes the variation as non-significant.
The traffic trend continues that already described by Eiffage during its half-yearly publication of July 28, 2026. The group then reported total APRR and AREA traffic down 2.5% in the first half, affected according to it by rising fuel prices, and cited among its risks the persistence of declining highway traffic.
As of September 30, 2026, APRR's consolidated revenue excluding Construction reached 2,487.0 million euros, up 0.2%, for total traffic down 2.9% on the APRR and AREA networks.
