Avantium: its Releaf plant-based polymer wins award at Formes de Luxe Awards 2026
The Dutch renewable polymer materials manufacturer announced that its Releaf plant-based polymer has been recognized in the Materials category at the Formes de Luxe Awards 2026 presentation, held during the Luxe Pack Monaco exhibition.
An award for a material dedicated to luxury packaging
Avantium announced on September 29, 2026 that its Releaf polymer had won the Formes de Luxe Award 2026 in the Materials category. The award was presented at the Luxe Pack Monaco exhibition, dedicated to creative packaging.
According to the company, the jury selected Releaf for its potential to support the transition towards renewable and circular packaging materials intended for luxury applications. The Formes de Luxe Awards recognize innovations aimed at reducing the environmental footprint of brands while maintaining the quality expected in high-end packaging.
A bio-based polymer made from FDCA already tested on multiple formats
Releaf is a polymer based on FDCA (furandicarboxylic acid), a plant-derived component produced from renewable raw materials. According to Avantium, the material combines barrier properties with improved recyclability and a carbon footprint lower than that of fossil-based plastics.
The polymer has already been tested and validated by converters and brands on different formats, including powder compacts, care jars, mascaras, liquid makeup containers, pouches, deodorants, thick-walled containers as well as caps and closures. Marco Jansen, Commercial Director and Government Affairs at Avantium, stated that this award constitutes a validation of the value that Releaf can bring to the market and reflects the growing interest of brands and partners in renewable and circular materials.
