Beneteau Group: Passing of Dieter Gust, Founder of CNB and Iconic Figure of Lagoon

A Unique Career Dedicated to Naval Construction

Dieter Gust, originally from Germany, took an unconventional path before founding CNB. A former goalkeeper for the German Olympic soccer team and professional player, he later became a ski and windsurfing instructor in the south of France before dedicating himself to the sea. He worked as a navigator, welder in a large sailboat yard, skipper of large yachts, and pioneer of crewed chartering, before founding CNB in 1987 alongside Olivier Lafourcade. With the construction of Mariccha II, the company quickly gained recognition for its excellence and innovation. In 1992, Dieter Gust joined the Beneteau Group, initially serving as the general manager of CNB, and then of the Boat division of the Beneteau Group until 2019. Through his industrial vision, market knowledge, and development acumen, he contributed to the emergence of iconic projects and supported the sustainable growth of several major activities within the group.

Development of CNB Yacht and Success of the Lagoon Brand

Among his notable achievements, Dieter Gust created CNB Yacht, dedicated to the construction of large aluminum sailboats. He played a crucial role in the development of the Lagoon brand, whose international success illustrates his ability to envision boats that leave a lasting mark on their era. These two initiatives embody the group's strategy for diversifying its ranges and premium positioning.
