Casino Group Becomes Plesio, Monoprix, Franprix and Cdiscount Retain Their Names
The name change, announced by press release on October 20, 2026, concerns the group alone: its seven banners (Monoprix, Casino, Spar, Vival, Cdiscount, Franprix and Naturalia) retain their names and identities. The new denomination is presented as an expression of the group's positioning in proximity retail, which it has placed at the heart of its activities and strategy since 2024.
Renewal 2030 Plan Refocused on Three Proximity Markets
The new identity is based on the Renewal 2030 strategic plan, which focuses on three markets: daily food shopping, quick meal solutions and new daily services. The group indicates it wants to build retail that "brings together" and meets the needs of each local community. The name Plesio means "proximity" in Greek.
For Philippe Palazzi, Chief Executive Officer of Plesio, the new identity marks the entry into "the next stage of the group's development," based on the conviction that "the future of retail lies in proximity." He outlined the chosen priorities: "We will deploy our store concepts, develop our quick meal solutions and services, and provide our franchised partners with the means to succeed."
A Change of Name to Be Submitted to Shareholders in 2027
The group distinguishes between the Plesio structure and the Casino banner, which continues its business with its stores and customers. Plesio provides its banners with shared resources and expertise to accelerate the deployment of store concepts, the renovation of the store network and the development of quick meals and new services. The group also indicates it is strengthening its role as a franchisor, while respecting the management autonomy of its merchants.
The new identity will be gradually rolled out across internal and external communication channels. The change of corporate name will be subject to formal approval by shareholders at the next General Meeting, scheduled for 2027.
The group claims 25,000 employees, nearly 6,500 stores and a turnover of 12.5 billion euros in 2025.
