Crédit Agricole partners with Mistral to deploy AI across the entire group
Crédit Agricole Artificial Intelligence, the group entity responsible for pooling artificial intelligence technology assets, announced on October 20, 2026 the signing of a partnership agreement with French laboratory Mistral. The agreement goes beyond simple model access: it commits both companies to joint projects, with a pooling of resources.
For the group, the challenge is scaling up. According to Olivier Biton, director of technological transformation at Crédit Agricole S.A., "the ambition is no longer simply to provide access to artificial intelligence, but to sustainably transform working methods".
Conversational agent, processes and cybersecurity at the heart of the agreement
The partnership gives Crédit Agricole Artificial Intelligence access to all of Mistral's models, products and tools to develop and orchestrate its uses. Mistral also contributes to the creation of the AI platform intended to serve all of the group's customers and employees.
The two companies will work on projects deemed priority: the development of a conversational agent for customers of the group's local banks, the agentic transformation of key processes and cybersecurity. The latter is presented as a major focus area.
According to the press release, this collaboration should make it possible to reduce project delivery times for the initiatives concerned.
Models adapted to the group's data and distributed computing
Crédit Agricole Artificial Intelligence intends to adapt large language models to its own data and use cases by leveraging Mistral's technology. The stated objective is to optimize performance, and therefore computing resource consumption and associated environmental impact.
On the technical side, the entity relies on CA-GIP infrastructure to orchestrate the distribution of AI computations according to their sensitivity and criticality. This system combines the group's private cloud, European partners and complementary solutions as needed.
Prisme.AI and the Sécur'IA platform for employees
In parallel, Crédit Agricole Artificial Intelligence is collaborating with Prisme.AI as part of the internal "AI for All" program. The aim is to enable employees to use, create and share AI agents tailored to their needs.
The entity is now rolling out Sécur'IA, a platform that allows business teams to design agents connected to the information system. It replaces the Sécuri'Chat tool, deployed at Crédit Agricole S.A. in 2024 and regularly used today by nearly 9 trained employees out of 10.
Olivier Biton presents these two agreements as an illustration of the group's desire "to rely on French and European technology players capable of meeting the requirements of a large banking group".
