CSG Secures Two Contracts for Mechanical and Electronic Rocket Fuses
Defense group CSG has secured two contracts to supply mechanical and electronic rocket fuses for large-caliber ammunition from European clients in NATO member countries, valued in the high tens of millions of euros. These orders highlight the group's commitment to enhancing its large-caliber ammunition production capabilities in Europe.
Multi-Year Contracts with European Clients
CSG has secured two major contracts for the supply of mechanical and electronic fuses for large-caliber ammunition. The orders come from two European clients based in NATO member countries. Deliveries are set to begin this year. These contracts are part of the group's multi-year effort to strengthen its manufacturing and technological capabilities in the large-caliber ammunition sector.
The fuse is a critical component of each artillery shell: it determines the timing and manner of detonation initiation. In modern artillery ammunition, especially for the 155 mm caliber, fuses play a crucial role in the effectiveness of the ammunition, as well as in its accuracy, reliability, and deployment in various operational scenarios.
Establishment of a Joint Venture for European Production of Electronic Fuses
CSG will establish Fuchs Electronics Europe, a new joint entity with South African group Reunert, based in Slovakia. This joint venture will be responsible for the production of electronic fuses and will become a major player in the sector: CSG will thus become one of the few European manufacturers of electronic fuses. Production will take place at the ZVS Holding site in Dubnica and Váhom, Slovakia, utilizing the existing industrial infrastructure of the group.
Fuchs Electronics, a company in Reunert's portfolio, brings to the partnership its proven technology, development expertise, and over 60 years of experience in producing modern electronic fuses for international clients. CSG contributes its industrial base, manufacturing infrastructure, expertise in European regulatory and licensing environments, and experience in the production and supply of large-caliber ammunition.
An Autonomous Structure Open to Other European Producers
Fuchs Electronics Europe will operate as an independent manufacturer of electronic fuses and will supply not only CSG but also other European large-caliber ammunition producers. The creation of this joint venture is subject to usual regulatory and closing conditions. The structure meets a need expressed by the European defense industry: to increase its capabilities not only in ammunition production itself but also in the manufacturing of its most important components, thereby enhancing vertical integration and the localization of production in Europe.
