Dassault Systèmes Stock Drops 2.5%, Among CAC 40's Worst Performers

Resistance Break Without Follow-Through, Sharp Decline to Close Below €22.30
Dassault Systèmes closed Tuesday, September 1st at €22.25, down 2.58% compared to the previous day's close (€22.84). The intraday movement is peculiar: the stock broke above its resistance at €23.09, posting a session high of €23.16 during the day, before retreating below this threshold and finishing well short of it. This marks a complete reversal, on a day when the CAC 40 closed down 0.39%.
Ranking 37th out of 40 index constituents, Dassault Systèmes ranks among the CAC 40's sharpest declines on Tuesday. The stock nevertheless remains above its three moving averages: the 20-day MA at €22.09, the 50-day MA at €20.05 and the 200-day MA at €20.36. This maintenance above these medium-term benchmarks reflects the strength of the momentum initiated several weeks ago, despite today's correction.
Deutsche Bank Raises Target to €22, Consensus Remains Cautious on the Stock
On Tuesday, Deutsche Bank raised its price target on Dassault Systèmes, from €20 to €22, while maintaining its "hold" rating. The revised target corresponds almost exactly to today's closing price (€22.25), leaving little implicit upside margin in this scenario. The RSI at 67 indicates a slightly stretched configuration, without reaching a clear overbought zone.
The one-month performance nevertheless remains solid, at nearly 11%, and over three months the stock is up more than 18%, which partly explains Deutsche Bank's caution despite the target increase. Upon publication of Q1 2026 results on April 23, Dassault Systèmes had moreover mentioned the completion of a transaction reinforcing its platform proposition, while emphasizing that geopolitical uncertainty represents a risk for its clients.
