EssilorLuxottica: Revenue up 7.2% in the third quarter, driven by direct-to-consumer sales
EssilorLuxottica published on October 20, 2026 quarterly revenue of €7,486 million, up 7.2% at constant exchange rates. This growth is primarily driven by direct-to-consumer sales and growth drivers such as myopia management and connected eyewear. Activity with optical professionals is progressing at a more moderate pace, faced with a high comparison base.
The publication comes in a tense stock market context for the company. In mid-October, the share price showed a decline of 45% over one year, and two brokers had lowered their target on October 19, on the eve of these results. The document also reveals a change in the direction of the currency effect between the year-to-date cumulative and the third quarter alone.
€7,486 million in the third quarter, €22,304 million over nine months
In the third quarter of 2026, EssilorLuxottica's consolidated revenue stands at €7,486 million, up 9.0% at current exchange rates and 7.2% at constant exchange rates. The group notes that this increase follows double-digit growth in the same period last year.
Over the first nine months of the year, revenues reach €22,304 million, up 6.8% on a reported basis and 8.9% at constant exchange rates. The two readings diverge: for the quarter, reported growth exceeds constant exchange rate growth, whereas the reverse is true for the cumulative period. Currencies, which had weighed on accounts since the beginning of the year, thus had a favorable impact only for the July to September period.
In its semi-annual publication of July 28, 2026, the group already cited a negative currency impact among identified risks. To put the magnitude in perspective, EssilorLuxottica achieved revenue of €28,491 million for fiscal year 2025, published on February 11, 2026. Before the publication, analysts on average anticipated €30.10 billion in revenue for fiscal year 2026.
Direct-to-consumer up 10.6%, professional solutions at 3.4%
The Direct to Consumer division (direct-to-consumer sales, via the group's store network and online) grew 10.6% at constant exchange rates in the quarter. Same-store sales, an indicator that neutralizes the effect of store openings and closures, increased 6.8%. In this division, the EMEA and Asia-Pacific regions showed double-digit growth.
The Professional Solutions division, which groups sales to opticians and distributors, grew 3.4% at constant exchange rates. The group notes that it follows, like the entire quarter, double-digit growth one year earlier. The pace difference between the two divisions constitutes the main disparity in the publication.
Geographically, all regions contributed to the group's growth, according to the press release. The historical business (Eyecare & Medtech) grew by more than 6% at constant exchange rates, both for the quarter and for the first nine months. Francesco Milleri, Chief Executive Officer, and Paul du Saillant, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, highlighted the contribution of all regions and double-digit growth in Asia-Pacific.
Myopia management up 24%, connected eyewear up 20%
The growth drivers highlighted by the group are progressing faster than the average. The portfolio dedicated to myopia management grew 24% at constant exchange rates, both for the quarter and for the first nine months. Stellest lens, which belongs to this range, was selected by TIME magazine among the best inventions of the year.
Connected products (eyewear incorporating artificial intelligence and Nuance Audio range) recorded an increase of 20% at constant exchange rates in the third quarter. The group launched Nuance Audio Plus in mid-September, with extended features. Management indicates that new connected eyewear and Nuance Audio Plus are enriching the offering in preparation for the holiday season.
In total, over the first nine months of 2026, EssilorLuxottica's revenue reaches €22,304 million, up 8.9% at constant exchange rates.
