EssilorLuxottica stock declines 2% and falls 12.7% over the quarter
EssilorLuxottica loses ground this Thursday morning, despite the presentation of a new generation of smart glasses developed with Meta Platforms. The stock remains under strong pressure over longer horizons, in a Paris market itself oriented downward.
A pullback that places the stock below its key moving averages, among the CAC 40's declines
EssilorLuxottica loses 2.1% to €146.80 during the session, ranking among the steepest CAC 40 declines, in an index that itself falls 0.87%. The stock is trading below its 20-day moving average at €149.96, with a gap of 2.11%, and below its 50-day moving average at €159.51, representing a lag of nearly 8%. The 200-day moving average at €200.49 sits more than 26% above the current price, reflecting the scale of the decline accumulated since the start of the year.
Over one month, the stock drops 10% and over three months, it declines 12.7%, while it has erased nearly half its value over one year. The RSI at 47 is neutral, with no signal of selling exhaustion, and support at €139 remains the closest reference level downward. Monthly volatility at 9.18% illustrates the persistent turmoil around the stock over several weeks.
Analyst opinions remain favorable but targets diverge sharply from the current price
Two research firms have recently weighed in on the stock. CIC Market Solutions maintains its buy rating this Thursday with an unchanged target of €250, representing a rebound potential of nearly 70% compared to the current price. RBC Capital, for its part, maintained its outperform opinion on Tuesday but lowered its target from €230 to €190, as reported in a brief from September 22. Even revised, RBC's target comes out 29% above the current price.
This context of constructive analysts but distant targets contrasts with the price dynamic. On a fundamental level, during the publication of H1 2026 results on July 28, the group posted a free cash flow of €1.07 billion, up €100 million, and adjusted operating profit up 15% at constant exchange rates. The presentation today of next-generation smart glasses with Meta, as part of Meta Connect, reminds us that the Ray-Ban / Meta partnership has existed for five years, without being enough to stop today's decline. Support at €139 remains the immediate technical benchmark to watch.
