Eurofins completes sale of MET Labs to UL Solutions for €575 million
The sale of the electrical and electronic testing business of the Luxembourg-based group to UL Solutions, announced in April, has now been completed. The transaction was valued at €575 million in enterprise value.
An activity with 1,300 employees transferred to UL Solutions
Eurofins Scientific announced on October 2, 2026 the completion of the sale of its electrical and electronic testing business, known as MET Labs, to UL Solutions Inc. The transaction took place on October 1, 2026.
MET Labs is an international network of laboratories offering product safety testing, inspection and certification services for electrical and electronic products. The business employs approximately 1,300 people worldwide.
The transaction had been announced on April 14, 2026, for an enterprise value of €575 million, on a cash and debt-free basis.
Eurofins states that this transaction is in line with its priority to allocate capital to its "testing for life" activities. The proceeds from the sale are intended to support the group's capital allocation priorities.
These include debt reduction, capital expenditure in owned laboratories and facilities, next-generation digital solutions, robotics and artificial intelligence developments, share buybacks as well as strategic acquisitions in the fields of food, environmental, pharmaceutical, clinical and related testing.
Support from the Chief Executive Officer
In a statement, Eurofins' Chief Executive Officer, Gilles Martin, thanked the MET Labs teams for their commitment and expertise, highlighting that they had built businesses that were "highly successful and, in several cases, market leaders" over nearly twenty years within the network.
He added that UL Solutions' focus on applied safety science made it "a natural home" for these laboratories.
