Facephi hosts its digital identity platform in the United Arab Emirates via Azure
The Spanish digital identity solutions provider has announced the deployment of its platform on a Microsoft Azure infrastructure located in the United Arab Emirates, in order to align its service with the data residency requirements of the country's central bank. This deployment will be accompanied by a first client from the local financial sector.
A local deployment aligned with central bank rules
Facephi has indicated that financial institutions in the United Arab Emirates will be able to deploy their digital identity processes via its platform hosted on a Microsoft Azure infrastructure located in the country. The stated objective is to comply with the data residency requirements of the Central Bank of the UAE, which requires licensed entities to retain customer and transaction data within national borders.
According to the company, this obligation extends to the entire provider chain, including identity verification suppliers. The entire process, from document validation to the preservation of evidence of each verification, will thus be processed and stored in the country. The deployment is expected to be operational for clients between late October and early November.
A first financial client and a regional strategy in the Gulf
The new infrastructure will initially serve a digital payments platform based in the United Arab Emirates and integrated into a local financial group, described by Facephi as its first client to operate on this deployment. The company presents this initiative as a component of a regional infrastructure strategy aimed at offering different local hosting options across several key Gulf markets, including Saudi Arabia, depending on the regulatory and operational requirements of each client.
Facephi indicates that it has had a regional team based in Dubai for several years. The region is part of an international network that the company describes as having more than 300 clients in Europe, the Americas, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific. Henry Rosas, regional director of Facephi for the Middle East, presented this deployment as a long-term commitment to this market.
