Haffner Energy: OroCarbo reserves 12 Synoca units, up to €30 million in potential revenue
The biomass-based solutions designer, based in Vitry-le-François, announced that California-based project developer OroCarbo has confirmed the reservation of 12 units of its modular technology.
This reservation covers 12% of its CORE100 industrial program, intended for the deployment of the first 100 standardized C-iC units.
A California developer reserves 12 SYNOCA C-iC units
Haffner Energy announced on September 1, 2026 that California-based project developer OroCarbo has confirmed the reservation of 12 SYNOCA C-iC units as part of the CORE100 program.
This industrial program aims at the deployment of the first 100 standardized C-iC units and allows customers to reserve production slots for modular units, deployable individually or combined.
OroCarbo plans to deploy these units as part of the development of local renewable energy hubs in California, Oregon and Washington State. These projects will convert locally available residual biomass into renewable synthesis gas, primarily intended for renewable hydrogen production for mobility and local electricity generation.
€100,000 in reservation, up to €30 million in potential revenue
OroCarbo's reservation covers 12 SYNOCA C-iC units, for a total amount of €100,000.
On the basis of the current contractual price of €2.5 million per unit, these 12 units represent up to €30 million in potential revenue for Haffner Energy, or 12% of the CORE100 program.
For these projects, Haffner Energy's scope of supply will be limited to the SYNOCA C-iC units as well as the engineering work necessary for their integration. Equipment downstream converting synthesis gas into hydrogen or electricity will be selected and purchased in the United States, as well as their adaptation and certification to American standards, outside Haffner Energy's scope.
From a suspended biomethanol project to a multi-site approach
Haffner Energy and OroCarbo launched their collaboration in 2025 on a biomethanol project with a capacity of 100 tonnes per day in California. The first phase, an independent study on carbon intensity, was completed during Haffner Energy's 2025-2026 financial year.
This biomethanol project was subsequently suspended pending sufficient long-term offtake commitments.
According to the two companies, the work undertaken paved the way for broader collaboration covering multiple applications and sites. OroCarbo has expanded its strategy towards a portfolio of renewable energy projects, and the reservation of 12 units reflects this transition from a single project to a multi-project and multi-site approach.
