La Française de l'Énergie Expands Fleet to 19 Units, +27% Capacity
La Française de l'Énergie announced on August 31, 2026 the commissioning of two new green electricity production units at the Rouvignies site in Hauts-de-France.
This milestone is part of the deployment plan for the electricity production fleet based on Mine Gas, presented by the group in its press release.
Rouvignies in Production, Fleet Raised to 19 Engines
Following the commissioning of two units at Angres in June, the Rouvignies site entered production during August with two 1.5 MW engines, identical to the 17 units already installed at the group's sites.
The gas used comes from the S16 survey, one of 75 decompression surveys drilled by the State in the 2000s, whose methane content, exceeding 80%, was confirmed during tests conducted by Gazonor.
Since the signing of the Mine Gas Convention in early 2026, FDE has commissioned four new engines, bringing the total fleet to 19 units, representing a 27% increase in production capacity. The Rouvignies site benefits from a power purchase agreement with EDF at €80 per MWh, indexed to inflation and secured over a period of 15 years.
Doubling of Capacity Planned Within Three Years
The group indicates it has secured the acquisition of 16 new engines to ensure the progressive deployment of installations planned at new sites over the next three years, with each installed engine able to benefit from the power purchase agreement with EDF.
According to FDE, the exploitation of Mine Gas, used for injection into the gas network and green electricity production, forms the foundation of its activities and a basis from which the group has built a broader portfolio, including the production of Renewable Natural Gas in Norway, with the next site planned by end of 2027.
Antoine Forcinal, Chief Executive Officer of FDE, indicates that the group has the levers to double its green electricity production capacity within three years. Annual results will be published on October 20, 2026 after market close.
