Mersen share drops 8% in one week, among the steepest declines on the SBF 120
The specialist in carbon materials and electrical solutions is losing ground in trading, in a Paris market trending downwards. The stock is once again among the poorest performers in its index and extends the decline initiated at the beginning of the week.
A stock below its two short-term moving averages, but above the 200-day MA
The Mersen share is down 2.85% to €37.46, among the steepest declines on the SBF 120, which is falling 0.69% at mid-session. Over one week, the decline reaches 8.14%, while the stock is still up 0.7% over one month. The price is now below the 20-day MA (€41.10, gap of 8.86%) and the 50-day MA (€39.54, gap of 5.26%). The 200-day MA, at €33.79, however remains 10.86% below the price, which preserves the underlying bullish trend over one year (+46.9%).
The RSI at 42 remains neutral: it reflects a gradual weakening rather than capitulation. The support at €36.18 is less than 3.5% from the current price. Mersen had already fallen 4% on October 15 before falling back below its technical benchmarks on Monday.
A half-year publication in July and a market penalized by French debt
In its latest report, published on July 30, 2026 for the first half, the group was targeting revenue of €1,260 million and EBITDA of €204.8 million for the following fiscal year. These dated objectives are not driving today's trading. Analysts follow the stock, and analyst opinions and consensus remain available on the website.
The CAC 40 is down 0.66% at 7,816.05 points, in a cautious European market as the yield on the 10-year OAT stands at 4.85% according to the latest Bank of France survey from October 19, 38 basis points above its level one month ago. Moody's is scheduled to review France's rating on October 23. Whether the support at €36.18 holds will be the level that upcoming sessions will need to verify.
