Onward Medical Welcomes Fouad Azzam, EQT Life Sciences Partner, to Its Board

Fouad Azzam, from Eastman Chemical to the EQT Life Sciences Team

Fouad Azzam is a partner within the EQT Life Sciences team. Before joining EQT, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Eastman Ventures and Director at Eastman Chemical Company, where he held several positions covering strategy, new business development and corporate development. He previously worked within the Commercial Research and Development group at Occidental Chemical Company.

He currently sits on the boards of several biotechnology and medical technology companies, including Neuros Medical, Shinobi Therapeutics, HotSpot Therapeutics and Xycolor Therapeutics. He previously served as a director of Cardiac Dimensions, Endotronix and Simplify Medical.

Fouad Azzam holds a doctorate in chemical engineering from the University of Akron and an MBA from State University of New York at Buffalo.

The ARC-EX System and Implantable Projects at the Heart of the Mandate

For Dave Marver, Chief Executive Officer of Onward Medical, the new director's experience is "highly relevant" as the company develops its business. Fouad Azzam indicated, for his part, his wish to support the team in expanding access to the ARC-EX system and advancing the rest of its development portfolio, which includes implantable spinal cord stimulation technologies and brain-computer interface.

The ARC-EX system is approved for commercialization in the United States and Europe. The implantable ARC-IM system and the ARC-BCI interface remain experimental products not available for commercial use.

Based in the Netherlands, Onward Medical has a scientific and engineering center in Switzerland and an office in Boston. It is listed on Euronext Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam.
