OPmobility Establishes Its 12th American Plant in Ohio, Over 500 Jobs Expected
OPmobility announced on Tuesday the construction of a new manufacturing plant in Toledo, Ohio. This facility, the twelfth for the group in the United States, marks a key milestone in its North American expansion and aims to enhance its proximity to automotive clients in the Midwest.
Strategic Positioning at the Heart of American Automotive Production
OPmobility is setting up its first plant dedicated to exterior systems in the Midwest, a region accounting for over 40% of American automotive production. The new facility, located in the Toledo area of Ohio, will benefit from a strategic position close to major transport routes. Initially, the site will produce high-end exterior systems, including bumpers, grilles, and rear doors, which will optimize delivery times and reduce the logistical footprint.
The plant will incorporate the latest generation manufacturing technologies, including advanced injection molding and a high-efficiency double-sided painting line. OPmobility will also deploy its automation and digital manufacturing solutions to optimize production flows, traceability, and global operational excellence.
Substantial Job Creation and a Defined Startup Schedule
The facility is expected to create over 500 jobs in production, logistics, engineering, and support functions. Production start-up is scheduled for the second half of 2027. The plant has been designed with flexibility and expansion possibilities to accommodate the group's diverse product portfolio.
The project has the support of JobsOhio, the state's private economic development agency, and the State of Ohio. Felicie Burelle, CEO of OPmobility, stated that this construction 'reaffirms our growth ambition in the region and in the United States, and contributes to our strategic geographic diversification.'
An Extension of North American Expansion
This new plant comes shortly after the inauguration in October 2025 of the group's North American regional headquarters in Troy, Michigan. OPmobility now operates 11 other plants in the United States and 6 research and development centers, with nearly 3,300 employees. The group has reaffirmed its ambition to double its sales in the United States by 2030. OPmobility has been operating in North America since 1977.
