OPmobility signs agreement to acquire Hyundai Mobis' lighting business, valued at approximately €390 million in enterprise value
The Lyon-based automotive supplier has signed an agreement covering the entire lighting business of Hyundai Mobis. The transaction, valued at 600 billion South Korean won, is expected to be completed in the second half of 2027.
Agreement signed, completion expected in 2027
OPmobility announced on September 30, 2026 that it has signed an agreement with Hyundai Mobis to acquire 100% of its lighting business. The transaction is based on an enterprise value of 600 billion South Korean won, equivalent to approximately 390 million euros as of September 29, 2026 according to the group.
The transaction has not yet been completed. OPmobility aims for completion in the second half of 2027, subject to obtaining the required regulatory and competition approvals.
According to the group, this acquisition is intended to strengthen its Lighting business, its portfolio of technologies and customers, as well as its global industrial presence. It is part of its diversification strategy, with an announced expansion of its product range, customer base and geographical presence.
OPmobility indicates that the transaction should not have a significant impact, on a pro forma basis, on its debt reduction strategy.
A target of 2.5 trillion won in revenue and five factories
Hyundai Mobis' lighting business achieved revenue of 2.5 trillion South Korean won in 2025, equivalent to approximately 1.6 billion euros as of September 29, 2026 according to data disclosed by OPmobility. The group specifies that this business generated positive operating margins.
The target operates five factories located in South Korea, China, Mexico and the Czech Republic. Its integration is expected, according to OPmobility, to strengthen the size of the group's Lighting business and its presence in Asia, North America and Europe.
OPmobility achieved economic revenue of 11.5 billion euros in 2025. The group operates a network of 152 factories, 40 research and development centers and 38,100 employees.
A strengthened partnership with Hyundai and Kia
Félicie Burelle, Chief Executive Officer of OPmobility, indicated that the transaction would enable the creation of a leading player in the automotive lighting market and deepen the group's partnership with Hyundai and Kia.
She specified that the acquisition should strengthen OPmobility's positioning as a supplier capable of providing and integrating both exterior systems and lighting solutions.
