Philips Forms Seven-Year Strategic Alliance with WellSpan Health
Royal Philips and WellSpan Health, the leading health system in Central Pennsylvania and Northern Maryland, announced on Thursday a multi-year strategic alliance that includes joint research, technological co-development, and a commercial agreement focusing on diagnostic imaging.
Unprecedented Collaboration between Philips and an American Health Network
Philips and WellSpan Health have established a seven-year partnership that includes a research agreement and a joint innovation strategy. This collaboration is the first of its kind between Philips and an American community health system. It aims to validate the performance of new tools and technologies, particularly examining how artificial intelligence and digital solutions can enhance throughput, costs, and workflow efficiency. WellSpan has committed to reclaiming over half a million work hours annually through these advancements. The innovation component will enable WellSpan and Philips Research to co-develop new products and features. WellSpan will act both as a testing ground and co-creator, leveraging Philips' research and development portfolio to design and develop future generations of health technologies.
Diagnostic Imaging Covering the Entire Network
Philips becomes the preferred provider for WellSpan across all applicable imaging modalities, including computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), digital radiography, ultrasound, and image-guided therapy. The agreement extends to all 12 WellSpan hospitals, as well as its diagnostic imaging centers and outpatient surgery centers. A key element of this agreement is its structured approach to technological lifecycle management. WellSpan and Philips will align equipment, services, training, and upgrade planning within a single coordinated framework, allowing greater consistency in imaging availability across sites and reducing access gaps for patients.
