Publicis Shares Climb Nearly 4% and Lead the CAC 40
The French advertising company marked the highest increase in the Paris index after revealing its half-year accounts and raising its annual guidance. The stock takes the lead in the CAC 40 as the rest of the Parisian market trends downward. JP Morgan has also raised its target price.
Organic Acceleration in the Second Quarter Justifies Raised Guidance
Publicis Groupe's stock is up 3.79% at €92.02 in mid-morning trading, while the CAC 40 is down 0.39%. The group released its half-year accounts this morning, showing an acceleration in organic growth to 4.8% in the second quarter, up from 4.5% in the first, and a record adjusted operating margin of 17.5%. Based on this, the annual organic growth range has been raised to +4.5% to +5%, from +4% to +5% previously. However, the report includes a point of concern: diluted net earnings per share fell to €3.15, from €3.25 a year earlier, and net debt stood at €1.215 billion as of June 30, compared to a net cash position of €548 million at the end of 2025, a change the group attributes to seasonality. Following this, JP Morgan raised its price target from €131 to €133, reiterating its overweight rating, which still offers nearly 44.5% potential from the current price.
Stock Propelled Above Its Three Moving Averages, Despite Rising Selling Pressure
Today's session brings the stock in contact with its resistance at €92.12, in a movement that pushes it away from the three moving averages. The price is now 5.69% above the MM20 (€87.07), 7.69% above the MM50 (€85.45), and 11.84% above the MM200 (€82.28), while the RSI at 56 remains in a neutral zone despite today's rise. This setup erases recent fluctuations, including a 3.5% drop on July 8, and extends the 16.95% gain accumulated over three months. Contrary to this stock market dynamic, net short positions declared reach 3.45% of the capital, spread among five funds, up 1.34 points over thirty days according to recorded statements. This increase reflects a strengthening of the bearish bet by some institutional investors on the stock, which should be monitored without drawing isolated conclusions given the operational trajectory shown this morning. The sustainable crossing of €92.12 remains the next technical threshold to watch.
