Safran shares among the strongest gainers on the CAC 40, +14.5% over one year
The aerospace engine manufacturer and defense equipment supplier is gaining momentum on Wednesday in an almost stable CAC 40, extending the technical recovery that began in mid-September. The stock is now trading close to its 50-day moving average, a level that the recent rebound had not yet reached.
A gain of 1.1% that places Safran slightly below its MA50 at €339.77
Safran is up 1.1% in trading at €338.80, ranking among the strongest gainers on the CAC 40 while the Paris index falls by four basis points. This upward movement places the stock near its MA50, which is hovering at €339.77, just a 0.29% gap. Since mid-September, the stock has traveled a notable distance: it had brushed its support at €321.60 before recovering, and it subsequently climbed above its MA20 on Tuesday, at €329.89.
The gap with this short-term average is now +2.70%, which confirms the strength of the short-term rebound. The RSI at 52 remains neutral, showing no signs of exhaustion or overbought conditions, leaving room before reaching the resistance identified at €353.10.
An active buyback program and fundamentals supporting the annual momentum
Over one year, the stock shows a gain of 14.54%, solid performance in a sometimes volatile sector context. The monthly decline (-1.57%) and the virtually flat performance over three months (+0.68%) reflect a consolidation phase that seems to be coming to an end. In this context, the €375 million share buyback program announced on September 18, 2026 constitutes regular technical support for the price: over twelve months, the group repurchased €1.3 billion of its own shares, representing approximately 0.9% of its market capitalization.
The MA200, at €316.43, is significantly below the current price (a gap of +7.07%), which confirms that the underlying trend remains bullish over the long term. The breakthrough or rejection of the MA50 at €339.77 in the coming sessions will be the next technical benchmark to watch.
