Saint-Gobain Completes Acquisition of Canadian Xypex, Waterproofing Specialist
The construction materials manufacturer has finalized the acquisition of Canadian Xypex, a specialist in crystalline waterproofing solutions. The operation, announced last July, further completes the group's construction chemistry platform.
A North American Player Present in Over 100 Countries
Saint-Gobain announced on October 1, 2026 that it has completed the acquisition of Xypex, whose headquarters are located in Vancouver, Canada. The company is presented as a leading player in additives and crystalline waterproofing coatings.
Xypex serves over 100 countries with its solutions. Its revenue is expected to reach 110 million Canadian dollars in 2026, according to the press release.
The company holds an established position in the infrastructure markets and in prescriptions for the construction sector. This presence extends to North America, as well as to Asia-Pacific and Europe.
The operation had been announced on July 6, 2026.
A Technology Complementary to the Existing Waterproofing Portfolio
The acquisition strengthens Saint-Gobain's construction chemistry platform. It adds a technology that the group describes as highly differentiated and complementary to its waterproofing solutions portfolio.
This portfolio already includes membranes (GCP Preprufe, Fosroc Proofex), liquid application systems (Stirling Lloyd's Eliminator, GCP Silcor), as well as injection techniques and repair technologies.
Crystalline waterproofing aims to improve the durability and longevity of concrete structures. According to the group, it contributes to extending the lifespan of infrastructures and reducing maintenance needs. It can be used alone or in combination with membrane systems.
This finalization comes as Saint-Gobain's stock is going through a downturn phase. On October 1, 2026, the security broke through its support at 69.04 euros, accumulating a decline of nearly 15% over one month in an unfavorable building market environment.
The group, whose headquarters are in Courbevoie, generated revenue of 46.5 billion euros in 2025. It employs 162,000 employees and is present in 81 countries.
