Sartorius Stedim Biotech stock rises 2%, following analyst upgrade
Sartorius Stedim Biotech advances mid-morning, as the SBF 120 gains close to 1%. The stock is consolidating above its three moving averages, following an exceptional quarter in which it surged more than 18%. Two analyst opinions published Thursday and this Friday are providing additional momentum to the bullish dynamic.
Two analyst target price increases support the stock's morning rebound
Oddo BHF has raised its price target on Sartorius Stedim Biotech from €239 to €281, maintaining an outperform rating, in a publication dated Friday, October 2. The new target implies an upside potential of approximately 33% relative to the current price of €210.60. Goldman Sachs had published an upgrade of its target from €208 to €223 the previous day, with a buy rating, which still represents a premium of approximately 6% over the day's price.
These two upward revisions come after the stock has accelerated significantly since its summer lows, rendering the old targets obsolete in light of the trajectory taken by the security. Based on expected earnings, the stock is trading at approximately 42 times the results of the current fiscal year according to analyst consensus, a multiple that reflects elevated expectations for the recovery of bioprocessing.
A stock price firmly anchored above its moving averages, resistance at €217.20 in sight
The stock gains 2.13% to €210.60 in trading, in continuation of a quarterly rebound of more than 18%. The price is trading well above the 20-day MA (€199.39, a gap of 5.6%), the 50-day MA (€188.68) and the 200-day MA (€182.13), which confirms intact bullish momentum across all three timeframes. After having broken through the €215.80 resistance at the end of September, the stock has fallen back below this level and is heading towards it again: the next identified resistance is at €217.20, representing a gap of less than 3% relative to the current price.
The RSI at 58 remains in neutral territory, showing no overbought signal, which leaves room before reaching a tight configuration. First-half 2026 results, published on July 22, confirmed an annual revenue target close to €3,153.8 million: the €217.20 resistance is the next level to monitor in the current momentum.
