Technip Energies Secures Contracts for Petrochemical Complex in Turkey

Engineering and Licensing Role on the Aliağa Site

Technip Energies has won contracts from Petkim related to the development of an integrated petrochemical complex project in Aliağa, Turkey. The agreement covers the licensing of a mixed-feedstock ethylene cracking unit, as well as process design studies (PDS) and detailed front-end engineering and design studies (FEED) for the entire complex.

The awarded contracts cover the PDS and FEED phases of the project as well as the supply of technology licenses. According to the company, they constitute a stage in the technical development of the project, prior to any final investment decision.

A Steam Cracker and Polyolefin Production Units

The scope of the FEED studies covers a steam cracker designed to produce approximately 1,200 kt/year of ethylene and 550 kt/year of propylene. It also includes a polyethylene production complex for high-density polyethylene and linear low-density polyethylene (HDPE/LLDPE) with a capacity of 850 kt/year, divided between two lines of 425 kt/year.

Added to this is a polypropylene unit of 550 kt/year integrated into the new steam cracker. The complex will produce raw materials intended for the manufacture of packaging, consumer goods, automotive components and industrial products.

A Contract Recorded in the Third Quarter of 2026

The contract was recorded in the third quarter of 2026 in the Project Delivery and Technology, Products and Services segments. Stéphane Mespoulhès, Senior Vice President Ethylene and Polyolefins at Technip Energies, indicated that the group will support Petkim throughout the PDS and FEED phases, combining its proprietary ethylene technology with its engineering capabilities.

This award comes following the formalization, on September 21, 2026, of an agreement entrusting Technip Energies with the marketing and licensing of SABIC's CTR technology, dedicated to the production of low-density polyethylene.
