Thales share briefly breaks below 223.70 € before recovering
In a CAC 40 that declines more than 1% during the session, Thales stands out as a relative exception by holding nearly flat after briefly breaking its support level early in the session. The defense equipment, aerospace and cybersecurity group also publishes two updates this Thursday: a dividend advance and new offerings presented at its Cyber Summit.
An intraday rebound above the 224.50 € support in a declining market
Thales is trading at 224.70 € during the session, up symbolically by 0.09% compared to the previous day, while the CAC 40 loses 1.11%. The security briefly touched a low of 223.70 € during the session, briefly breaking through the 224.50 € support before moving back above it. This quick rebound currently limits the significance of this downside breakout. Over the past week, the decline remains close to 6%, and 7.8% over the month, reflecting an underlying dynamic that remains unfavorable.
The three moving averages weigh on the security: the 20-day MA at 232.44 € and the 200-day MA at 243.10 € are respectively 3.33% and 7.57% above the current price. The RSI at 36 approaches a bearish configuration zone without reaching it clearly, consistent with a security seeking to stabilize without an established reversal signal. The 259.80 € resistance remains nearly 15% away.
Divergent analyst views and 1.05 € dividend advance paid by the group
Two analyst opinions published on September 29 illustrate a contrasting view of the matter. CIC Market Solutions maintains its buy rating with an unchanged price target of 305 €, representing an upside potential of more than 35% compared to the current price. Bernstein also maintains its outperform rating but lowers its target from 290 € to 250 €, substantially reducing the implicit potential while remaining positive on the stock.
On shareholder returns, the board of directors, which met on September 29, decided to distribute a dividend advance of 1.05 € per share for the 2026 fiscal year. Furthermore, at its Thales Cyber Summit, the group presented five new cybersecurity offerings, including a partnership with Google Cloud, in a context where artificial intelligence and quantum computing are redefining threats. Bernstein's lowered target of 250 € bears monitoring: it now stands barely 11% above the current price, compared to more than 35% for CIC Market Solutions.
