Valeo partners with Nvidia to industrialize level 4 autonomous driving platforms
Valeo announced on October 21, 2026, from Paris, that it will develop and industrialize high-performance automotive-grade computing platforms. This initiative aims, according to the press release, to "accelerate the deployment of safe and scalable vehicle systems with centralized software architecture (SDV)".
Computing platforms ready for automotive production
Valeo's future platforms will be based on NVIDIA Hyperion, NVIDIA's reference architecture in terms of sensors and computing for level 4 autonomous vehicles and robotaxis. They will also rely on the NVIDIA Halos safety system.
The equipment manufacturer indicates that it will apply its expertise in automotive integration, functional safety and industrialization. The stated objective is to design platforms "ready for production", based on this architecture and adapted to the requirements of automotive manufacturers.
The group places this decision within the industry's transformation towards software-defined mobility, which makes, according to him, "critical" the demand for centralized and high-performance computing power.
A unified architecture for cars, autonomous trucks and robotaxis
The system is based on the dual NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Thor architecture integrated into NVIDIA Hyperion, which must provide the AI performance and redundancy required for level 4 autonomous driving. This unified architecture is designed to cover passenger vehicles, autonomous road transport and robotaxis.
According to the press release, this single-platform solution should allow manufacturers to reduce system complexity, improve their operational efficiency and accelerate the market launch of their future models.
Marc Vrecko, general manager of Valeo's Brain division, qualified this collaboration with NVIDIA as an "important milestone" in the group's mission "aimed at making autonomous driving a safe and scalable reality". Rishi Dhall, vice president of automotive at NVIDIA, stated that Valeo's expertise "will help automakers adopt NVIDIA Hyperion and NVIDIA Halos at production scale".
