Valeo stock among the best performers of the SBF 120 following a contract with Nissan
Parisian automotive equipment supplier Valeo ranks among the most prominent stocks on the French exchange this Friday, in an SBF 120 that is also advancing during the session. The rebound comes after securing a contract with Nissan for the next generation of its ProPilot assisted driving system, while significant institutional short positions continue to weigh on the stock.
A rebound driven by the Nissan ProPilot contract, in a well-oriented Paris market
Valeo gains 2.66% to €14.27 during the session, ranking among the strongest increases of the SBF 120 this Friday. The stock rebounds following the selection of the equipment supplier by Nissan to provide a complete hardware and software platform integrating Wayve's AI driving technology, announced Thursday, October 1st. This contract adds to the participation in the Paris Motor Show, from October 12 to 18, where the group will present its software and embedded AI technologies.
CIC Market Solutions maintains a buy rating with a target price of €18.00, reiterated today, which represents an upside potential of nearly 26% compared to the current price. The CAC 40 gains 0.93% during the session, the SBF 120 advances 0.91%, offering a favorable context, even though tension on French debt (10-year OATs at 4.90% on October 1st, at their highest since 2002) maintains a risk premium on French assets.
A stock trading below its short-term moving averages, with elevated short interest gradually declining
Despite today's rebound, Valeo is trading below its 20-day moving average (€14.65, gap of -2.59%) and its 50-day moving average (€14.49, gap of -1.52%), two levels that form nearby resistance within less than 2% above the current price. Conversely, the stock remains well anchored above its 200-day moving average (€12.74), with a gap of over 12%, reflecting a positive underlying trend over the long term. The RSI at 41 remains in neutral territory, without overbought signals despite the ongoing rebound.
Regarding short positions, eight funds cumulatively hold 9.96% of the capital sold short according to consulted disclosures, down 0.65 percentage points over thirty days: a level still elevated, which is gradually eroding without clearing significantly. Upon publication of first-half 2026 results (July 22, 2026), Valeo reiterated all of its annual objectives, citing uncertain geopolitical and macroeconomic environment among its risks. Resistance at €15.50 remains the next level to watch.
