Winamp: Its subsidiary Jamendo targets Nvidia, Suno and six other companies over AI
Its subsidiary Jamendo is pursuing legal action in the United States for alleged use of musical content and data in the development of artificial intelligence technologies. The group is also extending its approach to six other companies in the sector.
The complaint against NVIDIA amended and first hearing scheduled
Winamp Group SA (Euronext Growth Brussels and Paris: ALWIN) provided an update on September 2, 2026 on American legal proceedings initiated by its subsidiary Jamendo SA against NVIDIA Corporation and Suno, Inc. These federal actions, initiated in June 2026, concern the alleged unauthorized use of musical content and associated data in the development of artificial intelligence technologies.
Jamendo amended its complaint against NVIDIA to incorporate additional elements in support of its claims. The amended complaint was formally served on NVIDIA, bringing the case into its next phase before the American federal court. The first hearing is currently scheduled for January 12, 2027.
Withdrawal and refiling of complaint against Suno
Regarding Suno, Jamendo decided to withdraw the current complaint in order to refile it in an updated and more comprehensive form. According to the group, this decision is procedural in nature and aims to incorporate all relevant elements from the outset in the new complaint.
Beyond the proceedings against NVIDIA and Suno, Jamendo indicates that it has identified, in particular based on information made public by the companies concerned, six additional companies operating in the technology and artificial intelligence sectors that are alleged to have used its content and/or data. Jamendo is examining these situations and has already contacted some of the companies concerned, with the stated priority of achieving a commercial resolution, including compensation for past uses if applicable, as well as licensing agreements or partnerships for future uses.
Proceedings at early stage, with no certainty regarding outcome
The group specifies that these proceedings remain at an early stage and are subject to the assessment and decisions of the competent courts. No assurance can be given regarding their outcome, timeline, or any potential financial impact.
Similarly, the group indicates that there is no certainty that discussions with the other identified parties will result in settlement agreements, licensing agreements, or other commercial arrangements. Winamp Group has set October 31, 2026 as the date for the publication of its results for the first half of 2026.
