Cabka: German Minister Visits Factory Recycling Challenging Plastics
Cabka N.V., specializing in transforming hard-to-recycle plastic waste into reusable transport packaging, welcomed German Minister of Economic Affairs Colette Boos-John at its Weira production site in Thuringia on Thursday. This official visit highlights the regional authorities' interest in the circular economic model developed by the company.
Ministerial Visit to Explore Circular Economy
The State Minister for Economic Affairs, Agriculture, and Rural Areas, along with the Saale-Orla district administrator, visited the Cabka GmbH site to explore how the circular economy functions within the context of sustainable industrial development. During the tour of the production facilities, the delegation observed how difficult-to-recycle plastic waste is transformed into high-quality recyclates and durable products for the logistics and construction sectors. The State Minister noted that 'companies like Cabka demonstrate how industrial value creation and resource conservation can go hand in hand.'
Discussions on Industry Challenges
During discussions with the authorities, major challenges in the sector were addressed. Thomas Wisser, site director, emphasized that 'industrial production, climate protection, and regional value creation can coexist.' He noted that for companies like Cabka to continue investing and expanding in the region, competitive energy prices, sufficient access to skilled labor, and predictable political framework conditions are essential. The Weira site employs about 300 people and is among the leading suppliers of recycled plastic solutions for transport packaging and construction applications.
