Gaumont: Net Loss Soars to €19.5M, Weighed Down by Animation
The Board of Directors of Gaumont has finalized the accounts for the fiscal year 2025. The group maintains stable revenue but records an increased net loss, affected by the normalization of catalog operations and provisions for 2026 films.
Financial Performance Overview
Gaumont's consolidated revenue stood at €150.3 million in 2025, consistent with 2024. The film production and distribution activity declined to €69.9 million from €90.7 million the previous year, notably due to decreased broadcasting rights sales to French TV channels (€26.0 million compared to €32.1 million in 2024) and video and VOD revenues (€10.9 million compared to €30.1 million in 2024). This drop reflects the absence of productions made for VOD platforms in 2025. Box office distribution showed an increase to €14.0 million from €7.4 million in 2024, driven by eight films released in 2025 that garnered 5.0 million admissions. Audiovisual production significantly progressed to €70.3 million from €51.1 million in 2024, with eight programs delivered.
Net Results and Future Projections
The net result for the group was a loss of €19.5 million in 2025 compared to a loss of €7.7 million in 2024. This deterioration is attributable to a return to normal catalog operations after an exceptional year in 2024, as well as a provision for loss on completion related to films released in 2026. The group also recorded an impairment of goodwill of €7.0 million, related to the challenges in the Animation market and the absence of signed projects. The consolidated equity of the group decreased to €165.1 million as of December 31, 2025, from €184.3 million in 2024. The net cash position stood at €45.2 million. For 2026, Gaumont plans the theatrical release of five films and the production or delivery of three standalone units, three fiction series, and one children's animation series. Two series have already been delivered and broadcast since January 2026 (Unfamiliar on Netflix and Traqués on Apple). A general meeting is scheduled for May 6, 2026.
