Orange Stock Holds Against CAC 40 Decline, BNP Exane Raises Target to €20.50
The French telecom group's stock rose 0.59% this Wednesday, reaching 17.88 euros, while the CAC 40 index fell by 0.52% during the session. BNP Paribas Exane raised its price target on the stock today, amid a remarkable upward trend over the past three months.
Orange Outperforms in a Declining Paris Market
During the trading session, Orange moves against the current of a declining Parisian market. The stock benefits from a clear catalyst: BNP Paribas Exane has raised its price target from 20.00 to 20.50 euros, while maintaining its 'outperform' recommendation. This new target implies a potential upside of about 14.6% from the current price of 17.88 euros.
The recent stock market performance supports this positive outlook. Over three months, the stock has gained 23.01%, and the performance over one year reaches 45.37%. The telecom operator will publish its first quarter 2026 results on April 23, an event that could lead to further adjustments by research firms. Among peers, the session is more mixed: Nokia is down 0.54% and Bouygues falls by 0.57%, while on Wall Street, Verizon and AT&T are trading near equilibrium.
Technical Analysis Shows Strong Uptrend
Graphically, the price of 17.88 euros is well above the 50-day moving average (17.35 euros), which itself significantly exceeds the 200-day moving average (14.76 euros). This alignment indicates a well-established upward trend across multiple time horizons.
The RSI, at 57, signals a moderately positive configuration, still far from the overbought zone. However, within the Bollinger Bands, the stock is in the upper part of the channel, at 74% of the interval between the lower bound (16.88 euros) and the upper bound (18.23 euros). The most immediate resistance is at 18.08 euros: a sustained crossing of this threshold would pave the way towards the top of the Bollinger Band. The low beta of 0.05 further confirms the stock's decoupling from general market movements, a characteristic trait of major European telecom stocks.
