Air Liquide Invests $50 Million in the United States
Air Liquide is bolstering its presence on the Gulf Coast with a $50 million investment aimed at optimizing its existing hydrogen infrastructure.
Strengthening Hydrogen Supply on the Gulf Coast
Air Liquide has announced a $50 million investment to consolidate its network along the American Gulf Coast. The purpose of this investment is to fulfill long-term contracts recently secured for supplying hydrogen to two of the largest refiners in the United States. The group will leverage its existing infrastructure to increase supply capabilities, thereby minimizing the development of new facilities. The optimization will include the installation of new compression and distribution equipment within the current pipelines.
Utilizing the World’s Largest Hydrogen Storage Facility
Air Liquide's infrastructure network, connected to the world’s largest hydrogen storage cavern at Spindletop, Texas, will play a key role in this investment. The company will utilize its current assets to enhance its capacity and reach, thus providing reliable and flexible supply to its industrial partners. These well-established infrastructures allow Air Liquide to efficiently meet the growing hydrogen demands on the Gulf Coast, a major industrial hub.
Strategic Enhancement of Regional Presence
Matthieu Giard, a member of the Air Liquide Executive Committee, emphasized the significance of this investment in the context of the new long-term hydrogen agreements. He stated that this initiative not only increases Air Liquide’s significant presence in the region but also fits into a broader strategy of optimizing hydrogen production and supply. This strategic enhancement demonstrates the group’s commitment to supporting the evolution of the industrial landscape in the United States and strengthening its market leadership position.
