Alstom Shares Bounce 3.18% to €17.37 After Orders Increase by 39%
Alstom's stock rebounds in early afternoon trading to €17.37, amid a generally declining Paris market. The CAC 40 is down by 0.29% during the session, and the SBF 120 has fallen by 0.21%. The company is among the top gainers in the SBF 120 following the release of its annual accounts for 2025/26.
Annual Report Reassures Despite Margin Pressure
This morning, Alstom unveiled its annual results for 2025/26, marked by a 39% increase in orders, totaling €27.6 billion. However, the adjusted operating margin has decreased to 6.1% from 6.4% a year earlier, due to the execution of some major rolling stock contracts. The company aims for a profitability return of between 8% and 10% in the medium term, thanks to a strengthened operational plan. The market has responded positively to the announcement after several weeks of skepticism. The stock had lost over 40% over three months following a margin warning issued in April. Today's 3.18% increase places the stock among the top ten performances in the SBF 120, behind Vallourec (+9%) and Soitec (+8.36%).
Stock Remains Under Technical Pressure Despite Rebound
From a stock market perspective, Alstom remains weakened. The price is currently at €17.37, below its three moving averages: the MM20 at €17.82, the MM50 at €21.71, and the MM200 at €23.00. The RSI at 32 indicates seller exhaustion observed over the quarter, yet it does not clearly signal an oversold zone. The support at €16.32 held at the beginning of the week and now serves as a basis for this rebound. Short selling pressure remains noticeable: net short positions total 3.47% of the capital according to the latest AMF declaration on May 11, an increase of 0.78 points over thirty days. In terms of valuation, the stock is trading at approximately 10.9 times the earnings expected for the current fiscal year, compared to 17.9 times for the industrial sector average, according to a consensus of ten analysts. The next important date is set for July 9 with the annual general meeting of shareholders.
