Aperam announces the launch of stainless steel 316A, presented as an optimized alternative to 316L, incorporating a significant reduction in molybdenum content.
According to Aperam, the new 316A grade is designed to deliver similar performance to the 316L grade in terms of corrosion resistance, while reducing the alloy surcharge by up to 25%. This reduction is achieved through the integration of silicon, which allows for a reduction in molybdenum content by over 75%. The 316A aims to meet the demand for more economical stainless steel solutions while maintaining high performance standards.
